I've read this fanfic. :) The first thing I'd advise you looking at is the porportions of the girl's face. Namely the placement of her nose. It looks a little bit awkward like it was placed to far to the side of the face giving the picture a sort of squished flat look. I'd also possibly try and get more consistancy between the tears going down her face and the ones falling. It's a really creative idea, you might just want to play with the way it's drawn. You may also want to shade the sword a little more, because the rest of the drawing is really really nicely detailed that the lack of detail on the sword makes it look a bit bland in comparison.

However, I'm really really impressed with your shading on the clothing, as well as your choice of colours for the male clothing. The dark blue really jumps out at you in comparison to the yellowish beige background, and the shading is really natural looking and not at all forced. You also really did an impressive job shading the hair! So altogether, this is a rather nice image.
